Aurélie Quentin's exhibition in BARNES Rive Gauche

Aurélie Quentin's exhibition in BARNES Rive Gauche

31st May – 27th July 2018

Back in pictures on the opening of the exhibition of the painter Aurélie Quentin which took place from May 31 to July 27, 2018, at BARNES Rive Gauche (13 rue Bonaparte – 75006 Paris).

Aurélie Quentin grew up on Reunion Island. She works figurative portraiture through large formats, painted in oil, showing a rebellious and mixed youth that seems to enjoy the present moment in everyday scenes. The characters are mixed, a paroxysm of human beauty for the artist.

The artist, through her works, praises idleness. Idleness that has become taboo in our societies. Like an allegory of an assumed 'laziness', she paints the irreverence of a youth that claims the simple pleasure of the moment and of a suspended time.

Contemplating the works of Aurélie Quentin, we wonder a 'right to laziness', a right to lightness and lost time.

This exhibition was organised in collaboration with the gallery owner Ange Monoyeur.
