Ange Monnoyeur's exhibition in BARNES Rive Gauche

February 2018

In 2015, Ange Monnoyeur created 'Des lumières et des ailes', a sort of flying gallery that she places where she is not expected, especially where everything, from the walls to the ceiling, seems to be best suited to highlight artists. She gives the artists wings. They rise. And so do their ratings.

This former dancer has the faith of the acrobats firmly in her body. She goes in search of talent, young artists who, in order to dare to show, need to read in the eyes of another this mixed impatience and confidence. She found this daring look in Victoire d'Harcourt, who has always been interested in urban planning and the architecture of large spaces.

This artist takes pleasure in retreating from museums, beaches and all sorts of large areas where people go to meet themselves. The painter and photographer strives to transgress reality. From a black and white photo that she takes and develops herself, without abandoning her subject, Victoire d'Harcourt recomposes her photo using large flat areas of colour. The artist's work is a dialogue between abstraction and figuration.

Bridges are stretched. From a universe that seemed very real (a photo), Victoire d'Harcourt makes us fall into an ambivalent world where all the questions of existence are asked... without answer. A talent that BARNES honoured in February 2018 with an exhibition in its offices on the Left Bank.
